MINUTES OF THE ANNUAL PARISH MEETING FOR BENINGTON WAS HELD AT THE BEONNA ON MONDAY 13th MAY 2024 at 7.00 pm.
PRESENT:
Parish Councillor Chairman K Pinner (In the Chair)
Parish Councillors R Bell, G Gostelow, J Grant, and B Holland
Boston Borough Councillor P Bedford
Mrs J Barnes (Parish Council Clerk)
1 The chairman, K Pinner welcomed all to the meeting.
2 The Parish Council Report for 2023/24 was presented by K Pinner together with a report from The Beonna.
PUBLIC FORUM AT PARISH MEETINGS
All meetings are opened with a public forum where members of the public are invited to attend and bring to our attention any issues, they would like us to consider.
The last year has been reasonably quite in that respect. The only attendances of note were to discuss the Planning applications by TH Clements and Bell Bros Nursery, and also the church path hedge.
PARISH COUNCIL MEMBERS
Thank you all for your attendance during the last year and for your valuable input and assistance. Especially while dealing with the planning applications mentioned above and all of their complexity.
HIGHWAY LIASION OFFICER
This post was held once again by Councillor Grant and thanks to him for diligently reporting areas of concern to the highways department and taking the time to update the fix my street app.
PARISH WORKER
This post had been filled by Mr Roy Hammerton who has had limited capability during the last year. He has sadly recently passed away. I did attend his funeral on behalf of Parish Council as a mark of respect. This post has now been advertised in an attempt continue this valuable work. During the last year, we have held two litter pick days to try and keep topside of litter, and on both occasions a substantial amount was found.
PARISH COUNCIL WEBSITE
Mrs Barnes has now found some assistance with posting information on here now and it is updated after each meeting, and at other times as required.
GRASS CUTTING
T A Blackamore has once again retained the contract for this and their work here is to a good standard this is for the playing field, Beonna, Beonna carpark and also for the village areas across the Davids Lane / A52 junction. Some funding for this last area is being sought and an update on that is imminent, councillor Pinner is working through this one.
PLANNING APPLICATIONS
There have been 5 submitted to Parish during the last year. Two for a property on Davids Lane. A wind turbine at Sea Lane, however, the two main ones were on West End Road for Bell Bros Nursery that was passed, and TH Clements which was subsequently withdrawn.
PARISH LIASION MEETINGS
Parish Council has had a representation at the last two meetings, and these are a good source of information and passing concerns up to Borough Council during the AOB phase of the meeting. They are also useful to also to be able to understand other Parish Councils concerns and problems as a reference.
FOOTWAY LIGHTING
During the last year we have exchanged all of the remaining sodium lights throughout the village and replaced them with modern LED. Some have had to be erected on new columns, but the majority were fitted to the existing poles.
These are on the part night system and are therefore off during the small hours. This will represent a major cost saving in electricity and also a considerable reduction in light pollution.
There is one remaining light not replaced on the church path as that one is currently not cost effective to exchange at this time.
BEONNA AT ALL SAINTS
The Beonna is now actively used each weekend, and also quite extensively through the workdays. The CAFÉ is open for business every Friday. Just recently they hosted the “Boston Heroes” awards evening, and that event was a huge success, they have enquired of the availability of the venue for the next year’s event, our support to this project is as important as ever, as it reflects very positively on the Parish.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank all Parish / Borough / County councillors for their attendance and input during the last year.
And last but not least to Mrs Barnes for her professional attitude to her duties, the extra workload experienced during the year, being the main contact for all emails and correspondence and for her support to me during 2023/2024
There being no further reports the meeting closed at 7.10 pm.
